Anthony Portelli honed his playwright skills at MTADA in 1986, and from then on there was no looking back. Today he is considered a veteran in theatre writing and several of his plays, both in English and Maltese, have been put up on stage. Anthony won the first prize of the Francis Ebejer award for Ħajja mill-Ġdid in 2001, again for his radio play Kiesaħ u Biered in 2011, and then went on to win second prize the next year, for his radio play Lippu d-Doggie. Three of his works Chalì, Rikba bla Ħlas and L-Invażjoni Bdiet, featured in the television series “Stejjer Qosra” on One TV, while the national broadcaster, TVM featured his television drama Ħelsien. His published works include the plays Il-Borg Pisani, Ċella Nru 5, Ħajja mill-Ġdid and the radio play Kiesaħ u Biered.
Anthony is the oldest among 13 siblings, lives in Fgura and is a grandfather of three.
